About Me

It all started long ago back in the late 60's and early 70's. My good friend Daniel Skinner and I were attending Sherman Junior High in Hutchinson, Kansas. The school has since been torn down and replaced with a new one in the mid to late 70's.  Back in those days...every Friday night after school we hosted what was called the "Friday Night Sock Hop". This is where the students would come, take off their shoes and dance to the music in the auditorium and on the gymnasium floor. (To those of you who did not grow up in the 50's, 60's or early 70's.) I am not sure how Daniel was given the opportunity to become the "DJ" and acquire this job...but he has always been the kind of guy that "made" things happen! I do however know that because of our friendship, his kindness and unselfishness he asked me if I wanted to help him in this endeavor and I eagerly accepted to be his assistant! What a great friend he was and continues to be!  Students would bring their 45's and give them to us and  we would play the records in the "control room" (better known as the orchestra pit below the stage). Our "DJ" equipment consisted of a record player and microphone connected to the auditorium speaker system through an old tube receiver. We were probably one of the first "DJ Hosting Team" that existed back in those days.  We got to choose which 45's we would play and took requests from students which would walk up and hand us their records. Daniel and I took turns with the microphone and played the "DJ" by announcing the name of the song and band who performed it. We also would throw in some "DJ Commentary" about people's dancing skills along with a few other verbal antics. Those were the "good old days"! Needless to say we had a blast and a lot of fun hosting and being the DJ's at the Friday night "Sock Hops"! Daniel was obsessed and determined with someday being a "real" DJ and talked about it constantly. After he graduated high school he studied the art of radio broadcasting in college and after graduating he became the director and producer at a station in Hutchinson for several years and then moved to Indiana where he ran the campus radio station station WBAA at "Purdue University. I just recently obtained the news that Dan is now moving to San Antonio, Texas where he has accepted a position of General Manager and CEO at "Texas Public Radio".

Congratulations Dan...You Made It Happen!

Throughout the years I too have always wanted to produce and record my own radio show and be able to share it with listeners throughout the country. Unlike Dan, I chose a different path but  now with the help of modern technology and "internet radio" I am able to fulfill some of my dreams on a different level at Diggs Journey Radio! My favorite music of course is Christian Gospel and Inspirational so I decided that my broadcast and music would be geared around those themes! I hope you enjoy the music and presentation!

The content of my radio broadcast will consist of a variety of Christian music over the past 60 years to the present. Music will include...Southern Gospel, Praise and Worship, Contemporary Christian, Inspirational and Traditional Christian Music...the list is endless! Each day you will hear a variety of each Christian Music category ...from the the old to the new! Along with the music will be live talk radio segments, updates on news, events, weather, radio interviews and many more surprises along the way! I also will be hosting live " Diggs Journey Night Airway" on selected nights and weekends from my home recording studio!

Check my Broadcast Schedule for all music listings and "live" events!

There are going to be a lot of surprises and it's going to be a lot of fun!

My work and dreams are finally coming together and I am excited to be able to share it with you and throughout the world!

I hope you enjoy the music and presentation!
