This New Building Was Built Over The Original Old Church Building...Which Still Remains Underneath.
The New Church
We've got a new church it's built just next door
To the one where we've always worshipped for nearly a score.
It's really pretty with carpet and padded pews,
Pretty lights and lots of other things that's new.
I'm sure everyone is happy with the way the Lord has blessed,
And I wouldn't want to spoil anyone's happiness.
Oh yes, I'm very happy too,
But there'll always be a special place in my heart,
For that old building they're tearing apart.
I remember walking down that center aisle to make things right,
It was a cold February night.
Brother Lonnie came back to meet me,
Viola showed me the scripture so sweetly.
Many other memories flood my soul,
The passing of friends and loved ones too,
The weddings and all the Missionaries as they came through.
The heart break, the love and the kindness too,
Without it I wouldn't know what to do.
So you see with mixed emotions and a tear or two,
I walk past the old and into the new.
Come everyone from far and near,
To help us dedicate,
Our new building, which we think is great.
And thank the Lord for all He's done,
Right here at Twelfth and Madison.
Most of all, come praise the Lord,
In beautiful songs and preached word.
For all good things come from above,
And we are grateful for His wonderful love.
